Beacon
Beacon is a South African civic accountability site: how government works, who sits in it, where the money went, what works and what does not. Every claim carries a source and one evidence label (CONFIRMED, REPORTED,ALLEGED or ESTIMATED), and anything without an actual record is marked ALLEGED. Start with how the sphere structure works, or look up a member of the National Assembly.
- How it works: plain-language chapters on the structure of government.
- Members: the people in each legislature.
- Parties: the same columns for every party.
- Municipalities: each municipality's audit outcome and its unauthorised, irregular, and fruitless and wasteful expenditure, year by year.
- Demands: coming soon.
- Corrections: every change to a published claim, and how to reply.
